PARIS

NATURAL STATE.

When you land at Charles de Gaulle airport, the world shifts a bit and your attitude changes. No matter how wild you are, Paris will civilize you. Originally named Parisii by Celtics in 225 BC but then changed to Lutetia after the Romans conquered in roughly 50 BC. However, it was King Clovis, founder of France who made Paris the capital in 500 AD after the Roman empire fell. Then came the Middle Ages, the Wars of Religion, The Sun King & the French Revolution, Napoleon, La Belle Epoque, WWI, WWII and now Emmanuel Macron. So much history, change, upheaval, and like most of the places we discover all that is left of these rulers and ages are their things, their beautiful things; art, architecture, food, wine, clothing. We may not be immortal, but we may as damn well create beautiful things, as they will outlast us. And so, if nothing else, Paris is a hall of beautiful things.

Feel free to have your cake and eat it too.
